Research Projects
Memory, Learning, and Language in Autism
How do autistic people process, store and use information? This research focuses on implicit learning, episodic memory, and procedural and declarative memory systems. It explores how these processes shape understanding and learning, connecting cognitive research with everyday experiences in education and other settings where clear communication matters.
Autism in University
Working alongside autistic students, we explore what helps and hinders learning at university. This project developed the Academic Learning Experiences Questionnaire (ALEQ) to understand students’ experiences and inform more inclusive teaching and support.
Understanding the UK Police Caution: Autism, Comprehension, and Legal Rights
Understanding your legal rights depends on how they are communicated. This project examines how autistic and non-autistic adults understand the UK Police Caution and whether changing its delivery makes that information more accessible.
Autistic Motherhood: Wellbeing, Cognition, and Family Dynamics
This project explores how cognition, sensory experiences and emotional wellbeing intersect with motherhood and family life. By examining the experiences of autistic and non-autistic mothers, we aim to inform support that recognises both strengths and challenges.
